London is a brilliant place to take the kids, there’s so much to do and whilst hotels and meals out can be pretty expensive most of the activities are free! The hard part is working out where to stay in London with kids. But don’t get too worried about location, the underground system is so comprehensive and easy to use, you’re never really far from anywhere. The Location of the Tower Hill Hotel Indigo
The Hotel is just 5 mins walk to The Tower of London and Tower bridge, so perfect if they are making up part of your itinerary. It’s also 5 mins to St Katherines Docks which has a fantastic selection of restaurants – brilliant for a quick walk down for your dinner! It’s also walkable to St Pauls Cathedral and the Gherkin.
The hotel is in the square mile – the financial district in London so if you’re visiting over the weekend, it will be very quiet, ideal for a night with kids after exploring the city. It will however be very busy during the week. Another bonus is that parking on the street outside is free from Saturday at around 7pm to Sunday night, a bonus in the city!

The rooms at the Indigo Tower Hill
We had booked two rooms, one for my daughter and her granny and one for us, the hotel made sure we were next to each other which was great.
Being IHG members, we were upgraded to a suite for one of them and given late check out until 2pm.
The rooms are beautifully decorated – four poster beds, wooden floors and open brick walls, giving it a cosy yet modern feel. The suite also had a separate sitting room with a sofa, extra TV and small desk area.
The beds were super comfy with plenty of pillows although probably not big enough for more than 3 people if you normally have the kids in with you.
There’s space enough to unpack for a few days and a robe and slippers waiting for you in the wardrobe – although oddly only one set! Also plenty of fresh, fluffy towels which always makes me smile.
The bathroom is plenty spacious (with a shower, not a bath) and some nice complimentary toiletries.
There was a lovely coffee maker in the rooms (and a kettle for tea), no milk in the fridge put they bought us up a jug as soon as we called down for it in the morning. The mini bar in the room has a few complimentary soft drinks and chocolate bars which made Pipers day!
Having stayed in plenty of hotels in London I was amazed at how spacious the rooms were.
The food at Hotel Indigo
Although we didn’t eat breakfast in the restaurant, we ordered 3 continental breakfasts from room service which was absolutely huge – pastries, toast, meats, smoked salmon, cheeses and fruit which set us up well for the day.
Value for money
It’s London so it’s very expensive, depending on when you will be visiting it’s between £160 – £250 per night. The added value extras such as the complimentary mini bar, coffee machine and the size of both the rooms and the general location make it pretty good value for money.
The Service at the Hotel
Everyone was very friendly, the lady who checked us in was extremely helpful and efficient.
What they didn’t get right
Pretty much nothing! The heated towel rail in our suite was not working – they checked it for us whilst we went out to dinner and offered to bring us a heater which we didn’t need and it really didn’t impact our stay.
It’s a bit noisy – you can hear whoever is in the room above you and no black out blinds but otherwise pretty perfect!
What you need to know
Wifi is free for two devices per room – could have done with more but no biggy!
